High Point- Marion June York Bailey, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at River Landing.

She was born July 1, 1924 to the late Fred Leroy York and Mamie Powell York.

June was a 1941 graduate of High Point High School. She and Carl married in 1942 and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before Carl's death in 2009. High Point- Marion June York Bailey, 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, January 25, 2018, at River Landing.

She was born July 1, 1924 to the late Fred Leroy York and Mamie Powell York.

June was a 1941 graduate of High Point High School. She and Carl married in 1942 and they enjoyed 67 years of marriage before Carl's death in 2009. For most of her life, she was a tireless worker for her church, community, and civic organizations. At the First Presbyterian Church in High Point, she was a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent, circle and Bible leader, church historian, and helped with the organization of the first nursery. She was one of the first two women deacons at FPC, and was later an Elder. In later years, the women of the church presented her with the Life Membership Award. In the community, she was President of the Furniture City Woman's Club, President and Vice President of the High Point Garden Council, President of the Garden Study Club, member of Brooklea Garden Club, PTA President, and a volunteer for the Red Cross and the American Cancer Society. During her years at the Presbyterian Home and later at River Landing, she enjoyed many activities, but especially playing in the Presbyterian Home Band.

She was preceded in death by her husband Carl A. Bailey, daughter Pamela Jane Bailey, and her brother Donald York.

Surviving are a son, Scott Bailey and wife Donna of Mount Airy, a daughter Camille Moses and husband Jim of Morganton, grandchildren Scott Bailey, Jr. and wife Alison of Raleigh, Mary Hauser and husband Brady of Mount Airy, Morgan Duffy and husband Ryan of Southport, and Bailey Bunn and husband Jackson of Wilmington, two great-grandchildren, and many special cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 3 at 11 a.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room at River Landing in Colfax with visitation following.

The family wishes to express our appreciation for the many years of love and excellent care she enjoyed at River Landing.
